Now in its second year, Parramasala – Australian Festival of South Asian Arts will transform Parramatta with contemporary music, dance, theatre, film, workshops and exhibitions from 30 October – 6 November 2011.

This year the festival has been extended to an eight-day program of ticketed and free events inspired by contemporary and traditional Indian and South Asian arts as part of Parramasala.

Featuring a vibrant masala or ‘mix’ of cultural influences, the program includes global music, dance, theatre, visual arts and community performances and will draw artists from Bangladesh, France, India, Sri Lanka, Germany, USA, Australia and more.

Headline acts in 2011 include global music star Karsh Kale, one of the world’s most acclaimed music ensembles David Hykes and the Harmonic Choir and virtuoso percussionist Trilok Gurtu.

The festival features 120 free and ticketed performances, screenings and events at venues across Parramatta.

Parramasala will be held from 30 October to 6 November, 2011
